Thullatha Manamum Thullum (1999) - Tamil Movie

The hero Kutty (Vijay) returns to Chennai after serving a prison term of seven years in Pune (extra make- up to make him look aged would have been welcome here. He looks so fresh for one who had served a long term) and sings a stanza from his favourite song (it fits badly here because of the blaring sound made by the passengers who soon settle down to hear his story). Kutty longs to become a singer while working in an audio shop run by Mani (Manivannan).

Veppam - Tamil Movie

Can a female filmmaker handle an action-thriller with conviction?
Can she portray the darker shades of underworld in an effective manner? Yes seems to be the answer for Anjali Ali Khan has proved it through 'Veppam'. The debutant filmmaker, who is a former associate of Gautham Vasudev Menon, has come out with a riveting action tale in 'Veppam'.
The movie seems to have carried a lot of hype for it is released by Gautham Vasudev Menon's own banner Photon Kathas. 'Veppam' promises aplenty and lives up to the hype in most parts. For, the script about friendship and deceit is loaded with thrills and spills to entertain the masses.
The director seems to have won the battle thanks to an excellent technical crew coming to her aid. Om Prakash's cinematography and Antony's razor-sharp editing are the movie's flesh and blood while Joshua Sridhar with his seven catchy numbers forms the soul of this film.
The whole film unfolds in a slum in Chennai. Balaji (Muthukumar), after his mother's death and his father Jothi (Shimmore), a drunkard, leaves him on streets, works hard and ensures a decent living for his younger brother Karthik (Nani).

Mankatha - Tamil Movie

The headline says it all. In 'Mankatha', Ajith pulls it off with his impeccable style and excellent performance, which is aptly supported by a racy script and brilliant execution by director Venkat Prabhu and his team.
If cricket was the USP of 'Chennai 28', the director's first film, 'Mankatha' is also based on the sport but with a difference. It is all about betting, money and the men behind it.
Ajith has appropriately chosen to do 'Mankatha' as his 50th film. It is a movie that has everything his fans would want. He shakes his legs vigorously, evokes laughter, does pulsating stunt sequences and utters catchy one-liners (with some of them going mute).

Engeyum Kadhal - Tamil Movie

Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence, they say. No one can understand this better than choreographer-actor-director Prabhu Deva, for reasons which are obvious.
So expectations were high on 'Engeyum Kadhal', his directorial venture. Though romance reigns supreme in this film, lack of enough care in the script and narration mar the flow. But hold on! Harris Jayaraj's music, Nirav Shah's cinematography and the crackling chemistry of 'Jayam' Ravi-Hansika Motwani set things right to a decent extent.
From Laila-Majnu to Karthik-Jessy, romance has been celebrated in various ways on screen. 'Engeyum Kadhal' follows this formula, and who knows, it may strike the right chord in today's youngsters, who vote for candyfloss stories.
Unlike earlier Prabhu Deva films that were more noisy, 'Engeyum Kadhal' is rather quite, sedate to start with. The movie is more like a gentle breeze touching your face on a cool evening.

Singam Puli - Tamil Movie

Doing double role is always a delight for actors. From the days of MGR to Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan till the contemporary heroes, the craze to play two characters in one film is immense.
Joining the list is Jeeva with Singam Puli. As the title suggests, it is the tale of a ferocious battle between brothers (both played by Jeeva). Obviously it has to be between the good and the bad.
Debutant director Sai Ramani seems to have been inspired heavily by the likes of Vaali and Azhagiya Thamizh Magan and laced it up with few moments from Manmadha Leelai to render a commercial cocktail in Singam Puli.
Jeeva who has a penchant to try his hands at different themes in Tamil cinema has gathered guts to do a double role. He has taken the task on his shoulders and gives a matured performance.
The actor manages to bring out the subtle differences between the two roles with consummate ease. Especially as the lusty younger brother Ashok, Jeeva impresses. Then there is Divya Spandhana, Santhanam and Ponvannan among others to give him company.

Singham - Hindi Movie

Singham is such a mighty blast from the past, it leaves you reeling under its impact. Designed as a tribute to the pure, unadulterated action films of the Bachchan era, where a larger-than-life hero battled a mega-evil villain, with nothing but his principles and his bare fists, Rohit Shetty's retro film leaves you goofy, grinning and clapping with glee as the rivals indulge in in-your-face encounters, laced with in-your-face action, peppered with in-your-face dialogues, brimming over with in-your-face belligerence and brawn. Truly, Singham leaves nothing to the imagination and makes a singular appeal to testosterone alone.

Vaaranam Aayiram - Tamil Movie

Gautam Vasudev Menon’s Vaaranam Ayiram is intended to be a biography of an ordinary man. What could have been a subtly told story turns into a sloppy fare with way too much of daddy-glorification and emotional I-love-you-and-I-see-you-in-everything-dialogues. However, this memoirs-of-my-dad would have been a wonderful watch if it did not adopt a schmaltzy narrative often, more often than you think actually, interrupted with songs.

Venghai - Movie Download

Vengai is typical movie of Hari’s stamp. It is just the tale of father and son affection and in between comes some action and love which forms Vengai.
Selvam (Dhanush) is the son of Veerapandi (Raj Kiran) who is an influential person in a village in Sivaganga district and does all good for the welfare of the village. Prakash Raj fondly called as Annachi becomes MLA for this region and Veerapandi takes an oath from Annachi to do only good things for the people in the village. However, Annachi brings out his evil image and does all illegal activities to make money and exercise his power. But Veerapandi, who gets angry with his activities, tries to stop them. Selvam who comes to know about his activities takes things in his hands but his father sends him to Trichy.

For all those who have the heart to enjoy the regular formula based, masala action films…Vengai serves you 100% satisfaction. First half was neatly brought out with the right force for second half by successfully creating a strong conflict between hero and villain. Again the action drama continues in second half. Action based formula movies always have their own stamina to break the BO.
The audiences feel satisfied as Hari has some good moments along with thrilling moments coming out as a surprise in the climax. Action, racy script, strong and gripping narration, power packed performance of Dhanush and Raj Kiran, Tamanna glamour and DSP’s music stand as plus points of the film. On the flip side, the film has a familiar theme in regular style of Hari. Given the good amount of publicity by the team and a word of mouth, Vengai has all the chances to make it big at BO, especially ‘B & C’ centres.
Vengai is a regular action formula film with sundry elements of entertainment sprinkled around. Worth a look-in if you are a fan of Dhanush or Tamanna.
Final Verdict: A power packed action masala entertainer…

Singam

Cop stories doesn't necessarily mean the hero bashing goons, mouthing punch dialogue or standing stiff. The cop can be simple, straight forward and still accomplish his mission.
Filmmaker Hari and actor Suriya, who come together after 'Aaru' and 'Vel', have laced Singam, Suriyas 25th movie, with such events that sustain the attention of masses all through. Both have a major responsibility on their shoulders as their earlier cop stories ('Samy' and 'Kaakha Kaakha' respectively) did raise the bar in Kollywood. 'Singam', which sounds a masculine title, is a pukka commercial entertainer.
Though the story may sound similar to many mass masala movies before, Hari's pacy treatment to the screenplay and Suriya's screen presence gives necessary pep.
