Panchamugi Tamil Movie Story:

A stale tale, the story begins with Honey (anushka), a city girl who is a fashion designer and has big plans for her career. However, the pressure of marriage from her family makes her tell a lie. Meanwhile, in another place Janagam, there is the villain (pradeep) who is keen on getting a treasure trove in the local Ammavari temple. However, there is a hitch in that for him. Story takes a turn when Honey is spotted by Vamsi (samrat) who starts to follow her. He has a flashback and that involves Panchakshari (anushka). What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Debutant writer-director Balaji Mohan makes an impressive debut with his tale of love and forgiveness, developed from his nine-minute short film 'Kaadhalil Yeppadi Sodhappuvadhu' (How to screw up in love) that went viral on YouTube some time ago. There is nothing new in the boy-meets-girl, falls in love, fights with her and then tries to woo-her-back story; what is new is the light and frothy look at romance and relationships among the Facebook generation. The screenplay is cleverly written and the director ensures that at no point, value judgments are made with regard to any character. The dialogues are written in an easy, conversational tone and are sure to strike a chord with youngsters. And for the not-so-young, there is the cute side story of Parvathi's parents, played by Suresh and Surekha Vani.

Lingusamy is one director who has the commercial formula down pat. And his latest, UTV's Vettai, is certainly among the most appealing mainstream fare he has produced so far.


The story is simple. Two brothers, Thirumurthy (played by R Madhavan [ Images ]) and Guru (played by Arya) are thick as thieves. Only, Thirumurthy is pretty much a wimp and needs his younger brother to fight all his battles, from quarrelling during a kite-flying expedition during childhood right up to adulthood.

The story starts off with Raghuvaran, a passport issuing officer and his wife Shanthi Krishna... Raghu's brother Vijay and Shanthi's brother Surya meet in a cinema theatre. Vijay blames Shanthi to be the cause of the problem and Surya blames Raghu for the same. They keep on fighting like this throughout the movie. Meanwhile both the heroes Vijay and Surya find their own girlfriends and fall in love... Vijay is paired with Kausalyaa (Kalamellam Kadhal Vazgha) while Surya is paired with Simran (VIP). There are some very good love scenes and love songs to enjoy. The songs are super. Sabhas Deva!

The success of sports based films like Lagaan, Chak De in Hindi and Chennai 28 in Tamil must have prompted the debutant director Susindran to embark upon a similar subject in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. However this time around, the crew has taken Kabadi as the central theme with a poetically titled team with many fresh faces on and off screen.

The setting of the story is a village near Pazhani. A small boy in the village is deeply interested in Kabadi and will not step into school before playing at least a single game. His interest in the game is such that sometimes he misses even his meals. As luck would have it, his father dies in a freak accident and he is forced to work in the farmlands dropping his studies. 

As a youngster also he (hero Vishnu) is not able to pursue his interest of playing Kabadi but is resigned to looking after the clothes of the boy’s team when they play the game. This team from village has an infamous reputation of never having won a single game in any tournament

Director Suraaj has tried his hand at time-tested theme. An average-looking youth, who falls in love with a rich and a charming girl. He overcomes a gang of baddies who bay for his blood to eventually hold the hands of his beloved. Suraaj has tried a marriage between action and comedy. However a sense of deja vu prevails as the film progresses.

The director has strictly applied the rules of Tamil film grammar in the first-half as the hero is ridiculed by his father, he spends his time with a set of good-for-nothing friends and cliched sequences leading to romance blossoming between the lead pair. Towards the latter part, the influence of 'mirch masala' Telugu action films cannot be denied.

'Kacheri Aarambam' is Jeeva's ticket to stardom. The actor, who is credited a lot for doing off-beat roles in the recent past, has consciously taken to do a racy commercial pot-boiler. Debutant filmmaker Thiraivannan has seemingly rehashed several scenes from many of the entertainers that made buzz earlier.

Jeeva reminds one of 'Thenavattu', where he almost played a similar role with same Poonam Bajwa around. The presence of seasoned campaigners like J D Chakravarthy and Vadivelu around, 'Kacheri ....' is nothing but a full-length commercial venture aimed at the so-called B and C audience.
